All routes have significant climbing due to the hills in this area of NYS. We tried to take the easiest routes between locations, but there is no way to eliminate the climbing. Although there are lots of hills, there are no “killer” climbs. These are challenging routes and if you are not accustomed to hills, either consider doing one of the shorter routes or maybe this event is not ideal for your riding style.
•the maximum grade on the 26 mile route is 7.8% with a total of 1,839 ft of climbing.
•the maximum grade on the 54 mile route is 7.3% with a total of 3,032 ft of climbing.
•the maximum grade on the 102 mile route is 10.6% with a total of 6,177 ft of climbing.
The century ride is particularly challenging with lots of climbing.
“Climbing” gears are recommended -- consider a compact crankset (34 / 50) with at least an 11 / 28 cassette and ideally an 11 / 32 cassette. A “triple” crankset will work quite well. E-bikes are welcome.
All roads are paved -- No gravel.
